{"id":484,"date":"2018-04-12T14:17:26","date_gmt":"2018-04-12T14:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.quriusolutions.com\/?p=484"},"modified":"2018-04-12T14:17:26","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T14:17:26","slug":"senate-suspends-omo-agege-for-90-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.quriusolutions.com\/?p=484","title":{"rendered":"Senate suspends Omo-Agege for 90 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"yiv9998883147MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.5;\">The Senate has suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for 90 days over his comment that the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010 to reorder the sequence of polls in a general election was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv9998883147MsoNormal\">The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions had investigated Omo-Agege\u2019s comment based on a petition by Senator Dino Melaye.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv9998883147MsoNormal\">Mr. Omo-Agege had said: \u201cFor some of you who are familiar with what transpired in the House of Reps, only 36 members were on the floor when this so-called amendment to section 25 of the Electoral Act was introduced. The position we took is that 36 people cannot determine the destiny of 360 people in the House (of Reps), which is now being carried over to 109 in the Senate. The least we are owed is for this so-called amendment to be deliberated upon and our rule is clear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv9998883147MsoNormal\">\u201cWe have 59 senators who are opposed to the inclusion of section 25 of the Electoral Act. If that division was allowed today, 59 senators would have voted to delete that purported amendment to section 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv9998883147MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1.5;\">\u201cYou don\u2019t make a law targeted at one person.
