The Senate spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, said the revelation recently made by the senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, that members of the red chamber receive N13.5 million monthly is &#8220;nothing new&#8221;. He said the details revealed to the public by Sani is already contained in budget for the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"background: white; color: #212121; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\">Abdullahi said the details are, &#8220;contained in various line items and expenditure heads of the budget of the National Assembly which has been made public. If people had looked critically at the budget of the National Assembly which has since been made public, they would have seen that various line items like traveling, medicals, consultancy and the rest were captured in the budget and they were the funds divided for each senator\u2019s use. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"background: white; color: #212121; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\">\u201cAlmost all holders of elective and appointive offices have running costs allocated to their offices and that cannot be said to be part of their salaries<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"background: white; color: #212121; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\">He also added that some of the senators were not happy with Sani&#8217;s revelation on the issue. Some lawmakers had said that they are working out modalities to deal with the senator.
